Work in progress

We've been busy getting the nursery/house together. Thank goodness for this long Thanksgiving weekend, it helped us get a move on things and gave me some much needed rest. We've done something baby related every day for the past 4 days and there's still so much more to do. The bedding in the bassinet has been washed and put together. The bassinet is next to my side of the bed and is ready for take off! I had an ultrasound done and I got to see Reed's face! I had to take a picture of the sonogram, so it's not great quality, but you can make it out. :-)

This was part of the name game at my shower, Troy took pictures of things outside in the shape of letters (or he placed them like that) and people had to guess his name with the letters all scrambled up. I'm going to frame this and put it somewhere in his room. I have his middle name like this too. Thanks Troy!

Here he is, my baby boy!

Bassinet ready to go.

Changing table in middle of the room, paint still drying...all kinds of goodies all over the table, but you get the idea. Hoping to have it pushed back and organized this week.

Antique dresser that I used as a little girl. Came from the cottage in Maine, it belonged to the my Great-Great Grandparent's, The Reed's. :-) How appropriate, right? I know...it's girlie...we'll get him a new one when he realizes its girlie. It needs some new knobs and handles, check back on this.

Daddy to be, painting away! ( in a Hooters shirt from his bachelor party, cute)

Thanksgiving with the Kagle's. Uncle Bryan enjoying some time with Chase.

R.A.D.

Amazing! That describes my weekend in one word. I was thrown the most beautiful baby shower ever. I can't wait to share pictures from it because it was so nice I wouldn't do it justice by describing it. My friends and family truly spoil me. Katie and Tara out did themselves, which is a hard task considering everything they do is beautiful. Thanks to my Mother-in-law for opening up her home to so many guests and somehow staying on top of it all. The food was beyond delicious and had a natural theme, which I love. The entire shower had a natural/organic feel to it, just perfect! I received so many wonderful/generous gifts its hard to even grasp. This baby boy may just have more clothing than I do....maybe not, but its a close competition! Thanks to all for the amazing shower & gifts. Mom, I am still eating your delicious chicken salad sandwiches!!

The title of this post is R.A.D. because those happen to be my baby to be's initials! Yep, RAD. I can now call him by his proper name because we announced it at the shower. Of course they put together an adorable game for people to try and guess it. I'll have pictures of that too.

Drum Roll.....his name is REED ARDEN DORSEY. Reed comes from my Great-Great-Grandfather (Fredson Reed) who built the cottage in Maine that is so near and dear to me. The name was also passed down to my Grandmother as her middle name. Not only do we both love the name, but it has quite the history and sentimental factor. Arden is Bryan's Grandfather's middle name, so we were able to include both sides of the family in our son's name. I love you Baby Reed. :-)

Last but certainly not least, bump pics! Tara was kind enough to come over bright & early before the shower (which she had already been working on for two days) and photograph Bryan, Lena, the baby to be, and me. We ventured over to Sunrise Farms, in Gambrills, the CSA that I belong to, to take the photos. It was such a beautiful day, enjoy!! Thank you Tara!

More to come!!

30 Weeks!!!

I’m somehow 30 weeks pregnant; I have no idea where the time went!! I can’t believe I get to meet this little guy sometime in the next 10 weeks. It’s hard to believe I’ve been pregnant since April, much of the Spring, the entire Summer, will be all of Fall, and about a month of the Winter. Now that makes it’s seem long.

Thank goodness it’s that long because there is a lot to accomplish in that time: pick a name, put together a nursery, interview endless amounts of childcare providers, research and meet Pediatricians, visit the Doctor 50 times, keep up with your normal life and grow a baby all at the same time!

In honor of my 30 week mark, I thought I would list some funny pregnancy things that I've experienced along the way:

  • If you watch your belly when the baby is moving (not kicking) but just sort of swimming, it looks like your belly button is talking.
  • If your dog lays her head on your stomach, she’ll get kicked/punched repeatedly and apparently not care. Her head bounces up and down, up and down, up and down.
  • Baby hiccups feel like a heartbeat inside you and you feel so bad when they get them, there’s nothing you can do!
  • You know generally where the baby is inside you, but you may feel a sudden tickle or jab where you never thought a hand/foot could possibly be, but somehow it is!!
  • Sometimes when you first wake up, your stomach is all lopsided and strange looking.
  • For some of us, Braxton Hicks are VERY often.
  • You may experience a random disgusting taste in your mouth and then, just like that, it’s gone. Mine was dog food, awesome.
  • You’ll have strange dreams about your baby; mine reached for my hand while still in my stomach.
  • I didn’t know you had to pee THIS much
  • You’ll amaze yourself by how much energy you have, then there’s days where it takes an army to lift an arm.
  • You can’t use certain beauty products while pregnant. I can’t wait to get my hands on some white strips come Feb!

30 Weeks!

Miss Lena is in this one of course.

A sneak peak at the Nursery, and this is it because nothing else is done! But, thanks to my In-law's the Nursery is painted and only needs one more coat! Thanks to my Dad for installing the chandelier. :-)

Moccasins I can't wait to get on his little tiny feet.

Halloween 2010

So Bryan and I hadn't planned a costume for Halloween until 6pm on Sat night and we went out at 7:30pm. So considering the fact that it was very last minute, it wasn't that bad.....we went as Kourtney Kardashian and her boyfriend Scott Disick. She was recently pregnant, so we figured we could pull something together using my pregnancy as part of it. Bryan looked like Scott way more than I looked like Kourtney, but the idea was funny. :-) We hung out at Misty & Jay's for a few then headed home when everyone went off to the bar, I'm feeling a bit too pregnant these days to flaunt the belly at a crowded bar!

Some of the girls!
